My name is Sydney Cruz and I am a 4th year Radio-Television-Film student at the University of Texas at Austin. I am focusing my studies on tv and film production and working towards a concentration in Digital Arts & Media through the Bridging Disciplines Program.

I am very involved with the university and on campus activities. I am currently a Student Ambassador for the School of Undergraduate Studies, the Digital Arts & Media representative on the Bridging Disciplines Program Student Advisory Council, and a member of the University Scuba Club. I also hold a part-time position with the university as a Student Technician for the Center for Teaching and Learning. I really enjoy these activities because I feel more connected to the university and to the student body.

Although much of my time is devoted to academics, work, and extra-curricular activities, I have a variety of interests outside of the school environment. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing, playing guitar, swimming, and dancing. When opportunities present themselves, I enjoy outdoor/extreme sports such as scuba diving, surfing, and jet skiing. A lot of what interests me usually involves either creativity or being in the water, which is basically what I’m all about. I like to take part in activities that push my physical and mental limits and challenge me to experience something new.

One thing I absolutely have to mention is that a lot of who I’ve become over the years is a direct result of the people I’ve met. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a few wonderful people who have had a huge impact on my academic and career goals, the way I think about life, and the person that I’ve become. They’ve steered me in a multitude of directions and I somehow ended up exactly where I need to be. Although I won’t name names, I’d like to thank those people for inspiring me and motivating me and always challenging me to learn and create. I truly appreciate everything they have taught me.
